Calgary’s ‘Ultra-luxury’ Market Breaks Sales Record

Low oil prices are expected to slow Calgary’s housing market in the upcoming months, but in the meantime sales in the luxury segment have been unhindered.

Five homes sold for $2,000,000+ this month bringing the YTD tally of multi-million sales to 102, eclipsing the previous annual high of 100 from last year.

Of those 102 transactions, seven were condo-apartments. A total of 39 Calgary apartments have sold for $2,000,000+ on MLS® over the years.  The most sold during a single year is seven: accomplished in 2012 and now again this year.

So far this month, 34 homes have sold for $1M+ which is one ahead of last year’s pace.  Another six have been disclosed as being under contract with a pending date before year-end.

It was back in October when luxury sales broke 2013’s annual record.   There have now been 846 luxury sales YTD, a 16.5% spike from the 726 sold in all of 2013.
