Chestermere Real Estate Market Report: April 2014

More and more people are discovering that the town of Chestermere is a viable alternative to living in the deep north or south suburbs of Calgary.

Did you know that from the center of Chestermere to The Bow in downtown Calgary is only about 20 KM?

By comparison, Cranston in SE Calgary is about 22-26 KM away from The Bow, depending on if you take Deerfoot or Macleod Trail.  To the north, Panorama Hills is about 17-20 KM away from downtown, again depending on the route taken.

It looks like the “secret” is out.

April sales in Chestermere skyrocketed to their highest level ever for the month.  A total of 60 homes sold, a 42.86% y/y increase.

Helping keep the market in balance were the 70 new listings that were added, which was also an April high.   By the end of the month there were 115 active listings available, down -8% from the previous year and the lowest April level since 2007.

Year-to-date, the average sale price is up 3.93% from the same period in 2013, and the median is up 5.97%.
