March 1-7, 2014 Calgary Real Estate Market Update

These weekly updates on Calgary’s housing market have really gotten repetitive: prices up, sales up, inventory still down year-over-year.

Between March 1-7, a total of 523 homes sold representing a 11.99% increase from the same period a year ago and the best start to the month since 2007.

Average and median prices are up from the previous year across all three housing categories.   The overall average price is up 5.44% and the median is up 6.19% y/y.

Both Condo-Apartment and Townhouse have seen an influx of new listings come onto the market .   Apartment new listings have jumped 20.31% and Townhouse new listings have increased 12.09% y/y.    Active apartment listings are now only -0.96% below last year’s level but there’s still -31.5% fewer listings than we had on March 7, 2012.
