A banner year for Calgary’s luxury home market was bookended by the only two months not to set a monthly sales record.
A total of 727 properties sold for a $1M or more in 2013, smashing the previous annual peak set in 2012 by 33.6%. High-end condo sales surged 88.9% year-over-year.
The year was marked by 10 consecutive months of new monthly records. January & December were the only months throughout the year not to see a new a sales peak established for their respective months.
In December, a total of 37 properties sold for $1M more, falling 1 sale short of the monthly peak set in 2012. It was also the only month not to see a year-over-year sales increase.
Top Sales of 2013
The most expensive sale of the year and also an MLS® record for Calgary was a Crescent Heights home that sold for $11,100,000. View pictures and info of this home here.

Most Active Communities
The community with the most high-end sales was Elbow Park/Glencoe with 50, followed by Springbank Hill (46) and Altadore/River Park (45). The top 10 most active communities represented nearly half of the total luxury sales in the city. (Two way tie for the 10th spot)
To start off the new year, there are 289 single family homes and 37 condos listed for $1M or more, down -16% from the previous month.
