Calgary’s luxury home market climbed to a new high in May, breaking the sales record set a year ago.
A total of 84 properties sold for a million dollars or more last month comprised of 76 single family homes and 8 condos. That surpassed the previous all-time sales record of 80 from May 2012.
The most expensive sale was a 3100+ sq foot unit at the Princeton Grand in Eau Claire which sold for $ 2,862,500.
The most active communities were:
- Altadore/River Park, 8 sales
- Elbow Park / Glencoe, 7 sales
- Aspen Woods, 6 sales
- Mount Royal, 5 sales
Fifteen homes sold for list price or above.
One particular Roxboro home was listed for $2,295,000 and sold for only $1,525,000. The reason? It was one of the homes caught in the blaze a few weeks ago and sold for land value only since the home needs to be demolished. It’s a shame – it was a beautiful 3100 square foot home (see before pictures)
Year-to-date, high-end sales have increased nearly 33% with 320 transactions compared to 241 during the same period last year.
