Calgary Luxury Home Sales To Extend Record Streak Into 2013?

Last month a new December sales record for Calgary luxury homes was set in only 15 days, preceded by consecutive highs for the months of October & November.

Will that streak continue in January?

Between January 1-15,  10 homes have sold for $1 million or more.  Last year during the same period, there were only 4 sales.   The only other years with a better mid-month tally were in 2006 and 2008, both with 11 sales.

Elbow Park boasts the most expensive sale so far this month, sold for $2.5M.

What is the January total to beat?   It’s 36, set back in 2007 (34 SFH & 2 condos)

As you can see in the chart above, only 8 had sold in the first half of January 2007 before sales surged with another 28 selling in the latter half.

While a year-over-year increase is almost certain, how many luxury homes do you think will sell this month?  Post your guess below.
