January was the only month in 2012 that didn’t see a year-over-year increase in sales for single family homes. Early indications are that this January might be similar.
There were 84 SFH sales in the first week of January, 9 fewer than the same period last year and the second slowest start to the year in a decade.
However there were only 308 new listings added compared to 332 in 2012, a decrease of -7.23%.
On the other hand, condos were up slightly year-over-year with 47 units selling in the first week and almost spot on the 10-year average. New listings were down for condo-apartments by -21% and for condo-townhomes by 31%.
