Statistics Canada reports Calgary’s price index for new housing rose +0.3% in October. Prices were unchanged in 11 of the 21 metropolitan regions surveyed (including Edmonton), increased in 8, while 2 saw monthly declines.
Year-over-year, Calgary prices were up 2.4%
It’s interesting to look not only at the percentage changes, but where the cities are in relation to the base index of 100 in 2007.
Calgary is below 2007’s level at 98.0. Edmonton is even further behind at 90.8. Victoria has fallen the most and is now sitting at 85.3 On the other hand, Regina has shown the most growth since 2007 and is at 154.5
