Calgary’s Luxury Home Market Sets October Sales Record

Calgary’s high-end market continued to see strong levels of activity in October adding to what’s already shaping up to be a banner year.  Fifty-one homes sold for a million dollars or more, comprised of 48 single family homes and 3 condominiums.   That far surpasses any other October total.  The overall record was set in May of this year with 80 sales.

The highest sold price for the month was $2,850,000 for a downtown unit at the Le Germain Residences.

Springbank Hill and Elbow Park/Glencoe were the two most active communities with 5 $1M+ sales each.

Year-to-date, 458 luxury properties have sold compared to 395 last year.  The 458 sales matches the year-end total we had in 2007.

Calgary’s millionaires are among the country’s richest, a magnet for luxury retailers

“On the real estate scene, sales of luxury homes in Calgary’s resale housing market have already set a record this year. In October, Calgary hit 459 year-to-date MLS sales of properties over $1 million, one more than the previous record set in 2007 for the entire year.”

I don’t want to seem pedantic, but I just double-checked and my figures in the post are still correct: there were 458 luxury homes YTD by the end of October, matching 2007’s record year.
