Fewer Mortgages In Arrears (May 2012)

For the second straight month the amount of residential mortgages in arrears fell in Alberta according to the CBA.

In May, there were 3,296 mortgages behind in payments by 3 or more months, down from 3,418 in April.

The arrears rate dropped from 0.65% in April to 0.63% in May.

Alberta is back to 2009 levels both in terms of number of mortgages in arrears and in % of arrears to total number of mortgages.

In Canada as a whole, arrears dropped to 14,847 (0.34%) from 15,367 (0.35%) in the previous month.
