Calgary House Prices & Mortgage Rule Tightening

Calgary single family house prices reached their apex in the summer of 2007. The post-peak trough was in January 2009, but last month prices came close to setting a new high.

How have  prices & sales been impacted in Calgary since the government started tightening mortgage rules several years ago?

  1. Great charts Mike. What if you look even further back, and annotate with the unwinding in legislation to get the scope of the entire “full circle” we’ve acheived on amortizations over the last ~8 years?

    If possible without making things too busy, it would also be neat to show the BoC overnight rate changes too – as we know this has had a major impact on affordability as well.
