Calgary Vacancy Down, Rents “Stable”

The October apartment vacancy rate in the Calgary Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) declined for the second consecutive year in 2011 to 1.9%, reaching its  lowest level since October 2007 according to CMHC’s Fall Rental Market Report.  This is down from the 3.6% vacancy recorded last October.

Despite the reduction in vacancies, the average rent in Calgary remained
relatively stable this year.  Average rent for a two-bedroom apartment unit was $1,084 per month in October 2011, compared to $1,069 in October 2010.
